0/11Logging in
3 min read
- 1Download MetaTrader 5 for your device (desktop, iOS or Android).
- 2Open the app and choose File → Login to Trade Account (or the + on mobile).
- 3Search for your server name — it is in the Vantage welcome email, e.g. VantageInternational-Live.
- 4Enter your MT5 login number and the password Vantage issued you.
- 5Connect. A green signal in the bottom-right corner means you are live.
Your MT5 login number is the same account number you submit for 3X VIP verification.
Platform setup
4 min read
- Market Watch (Ctrl+M) — your list of symbols.
- Navigator (Ctrl+N) — accounts and indicators.
- Toolbox (Ctrl+T) — open trades, history and account balance.
- Right-click the chart → Properties → set a dark background so it is easy on the eyes.
- Right-click → Chart Shift and Auto Scroll on, so new candles stay in view.
Finding Gold (XAUUSD)
2 min read
- 1Right-click inside Market Watch → Symbols.
- 2Expand the Metals or Spot Metals folder.
- 3Find XAUUSD, select it and click Show.
- 4Close the window — XAUUSD now sits in your Market Watch list.
- 5Drag XAUUSD onto the chart area to open its chart.
Some Vantage account types label it XAUUSD+ or GOLD. If you cannot find it, type 'XAU' in the search box.
Adding charts
3 min read
- 1Open a chart, then press the candlestick icon in the toolbar (or Alt+2).
- 2Use Window → Tile Windows to see several timeframes at once.
- 3Once a chart looks how you like it, right-click → Template → Save Template so you can reuse it.
Using different timeframes
4 min read
| Timeframe | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Daily / 4H | Overall trend and major levels |
| 1H | Refining the level you will trade from |
| 15M / 5M | Entry confirmation and precise stop placement |
Always work high to low. Direction from the 4H, entry from the 15M. Never let a 5M candle change your 4H bias.
Drawing trend lines and support / resistance
4 min read
- 1Click the horizontal line tool (or Insert → Objects → Horizontal Line).
- 2Place it across the price where the market has clearly reacted more than once — that is a level.
- 3For trend lines use Insert → Lines → Trendline and connect two or more swing lows (uptrend) or swing highs (downtrend).
- 4Double-click any line to move it, right-click → Properties to change colour and thickness.
- 5Keep it minimal — 3 or 4 levels maximum per chart.
Opening Buy and Sell trades
4 min read
- 1Press F9, or click New Order in the toolbar.
- 2Check the Symbol says XAUUSD.
- 3Set Type to Market Execution for an instant trade.
- 4Enter your calculated Volume (lot size), e.g. 0.01.
- 5Fill in Stop Loss and Take Profit prices before you confirm.
- 6Click the blue Buy by Market or the red Sell by Market button.
If the trade buttons are greyed out, the market is closed or your volume is below the minimum.
Using Stop Loss and Take Profit
4 min read
Stop Loss closes the trade automatically at your maximum acceptable loss. Take Profit closes it automatically at your target. Both are prices, not distances, in the MT5 order window.
- Buy at 2400 with SL 2395 and TP 2410 = risking 500 pips-worth to make 1000 — a 1:2 trade.
- You can also drag the SL and TP lines directly on the chart once the trade is open.
- On mobile, tap the position → Modify to set or change them.
Managing trades
4 min read
- Do nothing by default. The plan was made before you entered.
- Once price reaches 1:1, you may move the stop to your entry price (break-even).
- Partial close: right-click the position → Close, then reduce the volume to bank some profit and let the rest run.
- Never widen a stop loss to give a losing trade 'more room'.
Closing trades
3 min read
- 1Automatically — price hits your Stop Loss or Take Profit.
- 2Manually on desktop — Toolbox → Trade tab → right-click the position → Close Position.
- 3Manually on mobile — tap the trade → Close.
Viewing trade history
3 min read
- 1Open the Toolbox (Ctrl+T) and click the History tab.
- 2Right-click → Custom Period to choose a date range.
- 3Right-click → Report → HTML to export a full performance report.
- 4Review every week: how many trades followed your plan, not just how many won.
Your history is the only honest feedback you will ever get. Read it weekly.
